When the Hochkönig Disappears Beneath the Snow

… the most special time at DasKöniglich begins. The modern chalet sits peacefully amid the wintry mountain scenery of Mühlbach, combining clean-lined architecture with alpine warmth and a generous sense of space.

Large windows frame the snow-covered landscape, while fine materials and thoughtful details define every room — in winter, the house reveals a magic all of its own.

The Hochkönig ski area stretches across the villages of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach: 120 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes and 34 lifts for every ability — from gentle nursery slopes to sporty descents.

Cross-Country Skiing

Numerous well-groomed trails wind through the wintry landscape — for beginners and advanced skiers alike.

Ski Touring

Varied and richly diverse routes lead through a spectacular winter landscape — from a first gentle ascent to demanding tours for experienced ski tourers.

One ski pass, five top regions

Hochkönig is part of Ski amadé, one of the largest ski alliances in Europe: 760 kilometres of pistes and 270 lifts on a single ski pass. Alongside Hochkönig, the Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein and the Großarltal, among others, are open to you.

Thanks to the altitude and modern snowmaking, you can rely on excellent snow conditions from December to April.

Winter Walking & Tobogganing

More than 85 kilometres of groomed winter walking trails and snowshoe paths lead through the still, snow-covered landscape — always with views of the Salzburg Alps. Along the way, rustic ski huts invite you in for regional delicacies.

And if you fancy a little more speed: these toboggan runs are well worth knowing.

The Culinary Königstour

From ski hut to ski hut: on the Culinary Königstour, each stop serves a different course — from starter to dessert. Choose your theme, perhaps “Heimatliebe” (love of home) or “Gipfelgenuss” (summit indulgence); vegetarians and vegans enjoy their very own “Pflanzerltour”.

Skiing and fine food — at Hochkönig, the two simply belong together.

Regional Specialities

Cosy ski huts along the pistes serve Austrian cuisine — from Kasnockn to apple strudel.

Ski & Wine Indulgence

Special routes combine the joy of skiing with selected wines and culinary delicacies.

The Highest Farmers' Market in the Alps

Regular culinary events bring local produce straight to the piste — first and foremost the highest farmers' market in the Alps.
